Appearance

Forms small, cylindrical stems covered in white, interwoven spines, giving a delicate, lacy appearance.

Clumps readily, creating dense clusters that can spread over time.

Typically grows up to 4 inches (10 cm) tall and 12 inches (30 cm) wide.

Care & Growing Conditions

Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to full sun; too much direct sun can cause sunburn.

Soil: Well-draining cactus or sandy soil mix.

Watering: Low water needs; allow soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Temperature: Hardy in USDA zones 9-11; should be protected from temperatures below 25°F (-4°C).

Humidity: Prefers dry conditions and does not tolerate high humidity well.

Flower

Produces small, creamy white or pale yellow flowers in spring.

Blooms form in a ring around the upper part of the stem.

Toxicity

Non-toxic to humans and pets, but the tiny spines can be irritating if touched.
