Appearance
A small, globular cactus with tightly packed, wavy ribs that create a “brain-like” textured appearance.
Covered with short, fine radial spines that form intricate patterns across the surface.
Typically grows 4–6 inches tall, remaining compact and highly sculptural—perfect for pots or terrariums.
Care & Growing Conditions
Light: Prefers bright indirect light to partial sun; gradually acclimate to direct sunlight to avoid sunburn.
Soil: Well-draining cactus or sandy soil mix.
Watering: Water sparingly; allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature: Thrives in USDA zones 9–11; protect from temperatures below 30°F (-1°C).
Humidity: Prefers low humidity and dry conditions.
Flower
Produces small, delicate white to pale pink flowers at the rib tips in spring to summer.
Flowers are subtle but add charming seasonal color to the textured plant.
Toxicity
Non-toxic to humans and pets. Spines are fine but can irritate skin if touched.
