Common Names: Peruvian Torch Cactus
Appearance
A fast-growing columnar cactus with blue-green skin and well-defined ribs lined with evenly spaced areoles and short to moderately long spines.
Known for its impressive height, it can grow over 10 feet (3 meters) tall in the right conditions.
Care & Growing Conditions
Light: Loves full sun and bright light; acclimate young plants gradually to avoid sunburn.
Soil: Use a gritty, well-draining cactus or succulent mix.
Watering: Water thoroughly only when soil is completely dry. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature: USDA zones 8–10. Protect from prolonged frost—brief dips below 20°F (-6°C) are tolerated by mature plants.
Humidity: Thrives in dry climates; avoid high humidity and excess moisture.
Flower
Produces large, fragrant white flowers that bloom at night—often in summer. Flowers are short-lived but spectacular.
Toxicity
Non-toxic to humans and pets, though spines can cause injury. Handle with care!
Important Note
Each Trichocereus peruvianus varies naturally in spine color, height, and rib shape. The plant you receive will be healthy and of the same species, but not the exact one pictured.
