Appearance
A rare and revered landrace cactus native to the highlands of Peru, often linked to the broader Trichocereus family.Features columnar growth with vibrant green to bluish skin, subtle ribbing, and small, spaced areoles that may bear short spines or be spineless. Typically grows upright and slowly, often reaching 2–3 feet (60–90 cm) in height over time.
Care & Growing Conditions
Light: Full sun to partial shade. Needs strong, consistent light to thrive.
Soil: Requires fast-draining cactus or sandy soil mix.
Watering: Water thoroughly, then allow the soil to dry completely before the next watering. Less water in cooler months.
Temperature: Hardy to USDA zones 9–11. Avoid prolonged frost—protect below 30°F (-1°C).
Humidity: Prefers dry, arid conditions. Avoid excess moisture.
Flower
Rare in cultivation, but mature plants may produce large, fragrant white blooms—typically opening at night.
Toxicity
Non-toxic to pets and humans. Handle carefully to avoid minor injury from spines.
