Common Names: Purple Crown Cactus, Haage’s Pincushion Cactus
Appearance
This charming, spherical cactus is densely covered in short white radial spines with longer central spines that can be reddish or brown. It often forms clusters over time and develops a beautiful crown of vibrant pink to magenta flowers arranged in a neat ring near the top of the plant.
Its symmetrical form and prolific blooming make it a classic favorite.
Care & Growing Conditions
Light: Thrives in full sun to bright indirect light.
Soil: Requires well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix.
Watering: Let soil dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, especially in winter.
Temperature: Best in 65–85°F (18–29°C); protect from frost.
Humidity: Prefers dry environments; avoid excess moisture.
Flower
Blooms with small pink to purple flowers in a halo formation, typically during spring and summer.
