Appearance
A slender, columnar cactus with dense spirals of white radial spines and long, reddish central spines that give it a fuzzy, bristly texture.
Can grow up to 12 inches (30 cm) tall and about 2 inches (5 cm) wide, often forming clumps over time.
Care & Growing Conditions
Light: Thrives in bright sunlight—full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Use a gritty, well-draining cactus mix.
Watering: Water thoroughly, then let soil dry completely. Water less in fall/winter
Temperature: Hardy in USDA zones 9–11; protect from temperatures below 25°F (-4°C).
Humidity: Prefers dry conditions—avoid high humidity.
Flower
Produces a beautiful crown of magenta-pink flowers near the top of the stem in spring or early summer. Blooms are small but vivid and arranged in a halo-like ring.
Toxicity
Non-toxic to pets and humans, but the sharp spines can prick—handle with care.
