Appearance
A tiny, clumping cactus forming dense clusters of small, cylindrical stems resembling miniature thimbles.
Covered with fine, white radial spines and occasional short central spines, giving it a delicate, fuzzy appearance.
Typically grows 2–4 inches tall, spreading gradually to form charming mats in pots or rock gardens.
Care & Growing Conditions
Light: Prefers bright light to full sun; gradual acclimation is recommended to prevent sunburn.
Soil: Well-draining cactus or sandy soil mix.
Watering: Water sparingly; allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature: Thrives in USDA zones 9–11; protect from temperatures below 30°F (-1°C).
Humidity: Prefers low humidity and dry conditions.
Flower
Produces small, white to pale yellow flowers at the tips of mature stems in spring to summer.
Flowers are subtle and charming, adding delicate highlights to the fuzzy clusters.
Toxicity
Non-toxic to humans and pets. Spines are fine but can irritate skin if handled.
