Appearance
A small, globular cactus with tightly packed, wavy ribs that give it a “brain-like” appearance.
Covered with short, fine radial spines that create intricate patterns across the surface.
Typically grows under 6 inches tall, forming a compact and highly sculptural plant perfect for containers.
Care & Growing Conditions
Light: Prefers bright indirect light to partial sun; acclimate gradually to direct sunlight to avoid sunburn.
Soil: Well-draining cactus or sandy soil mix.
Watering: Water sparingly; allow soil to dry completely between waterings. Reduce watering in winter.
Temperature: Thrives in USDA zones 9–11; protect from temperatures below 30°F (-1°C).
Humidity: Prefers low humidity and dry conditions.
Flower
Produces small, dainty white to pale pink flowers that appear along the rib tips in late spring to summer.
Flowers are subtle but charming, adding seasonal color to the textured plant.
Toxicity
Non-toxic to humans and pets. Spines are fine but can irritate skin if touched.
